Embedded below are a set of clinic notes from Cleveland Cavaliers assistant coach Mike Longabardi. Longabardi has been an NBA assistant since the 2003 season and has developed a reputation as one of the best defensive minds in the NBA. Having worked for Jeff Van Gundy in Houston and alongside Tom Thibodeau in Boston, Longabardi is well versed in the “Strongside” defensive scheme that Van Gundy invented and Thibodeau popularized. Longabardi’s clinic topic was “Defending the Great Player” which obviously resonates with his task coming up this month when he’ll try to shut down the Warriors’ potent offense.
