Horford Comes Up Big

Before we begin, take a look at the picture above and note how far Al Horford is away from the ball (roughly 17-18 feet) when Schroder’s shot went up and how many players are closer to the ball than him (7 including 4 Bullets players).

Below is a terrific article by Kevin Arvonitz of ESPN.com detailing Horford’s big play last night and the role he has played for the Hawks franchise since being drafted in 2007.

“That’s a great word for Al — he’s a stabilizing force,” Korver said. “That’s not just how he plays. That’s who he is. He’s always calm and collected; thoughtful, yet intense. Obviously on the basketball court. He is a steadying force and he’s a consistent player. This was obviously a big moment for him.”
