Cool concept used by the New Orleans Pelicans at times this year on opponent free throws. The strategy is certainly a risk as it removes your biggest player from a defensive rebounding situation. Look beneath the video for another strategy I’ve seen.
I saw the following concept from Carl Parker, a longtime AAU coach in Maine. On opponent free throws, Parker would station his two wings all the way down the other end of the court (one in each corner). He would work to outlet the ball as quickly as possible to the point guard and try to turn to push it fast up the court and turn it into a 3-on-3 situation.
